Do you see any in this?:

My computer can run Doom 3 and Quake 4 on medium NO PROBLEM. Super smooth and playable, even when in Doom 3 I was fighting the last boss (expansion: RoE), and there was a SHITLOAD of flaming heads, meteors, fucking flames everywhere, my pc handled that PERFECT.

Here I am, playing the FIRST GODDAMN HALO. It crashes. I can't use Warthogs, because all of a sudden, half of the textures disappear, and here I am, Master Chief sitting on fucking AIR, with 4 wheels around me. Then the terrain disappears as well, and the trees, and the screen turns white, and parts of the sounds effect disappear.

The sound effects thing, along with some textures/objects going away also happened in San Andreas.

Actually, a very similar bug happened in Call of Duty 2 (only in the last level though, where some objects were visible only from certain angles.) But I still was able to play through it.

There are other games I could actually mention, and I am wondering, is there anything I could do? Or does having an ATI card makes it impossible, and I should just abandon all hope?

I just installed the new drivers again. (I installed the same exact ones long ago, is there any way they could... disappear? Fuck. When I think of it, the objects/ colors/ textures disappearing happened in Doom 3 BEFORE I applied the drivers.)

Well, I'm gonna try Halo, and also Delta Force Black Hawk Down to see if they work after reinstalling the drivers. But if you guys know of any way I could improve the gaming performance of my computer, that would be AWESOME. Actually, not only gaming, my computer seems to have slowed down in general. (I don't need much. I love classic games. I don't need my PC to run Crysis.)

Oh, oh, and system specs:

Windows XP Professional Service pack 3, blah blah

AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual Core

Ati Radeon Xpress 1150

Overall, I got 1.6 Ghz of processing power, and 896 Mb RAM,
And that's my graphic card, copy pasted because I don't feel like typing.

Manufacturer ATI
Series Radeon Xpress
Codename
Pipelines 4 / 2 Pixel- / Vertexshader
Core Speed * 400 MHz
Shader Speed * 400 MHz
Memory Speed * 0 MHz
Memory Bus Width 0 Bit
Memory Type shared Memory
Max. Amount of Memory 0 MB
Shared Memory yes
HyperMemory bis (up to) 128 MB
DirectX DirectX 9b, Shader 2.0 - (I JUST NOTICED THAT. I AM RUNNING DIRECTX 9c, COULD THAT CAUSE ANY PROBLEMS?)

Sorry to tell ya but from what I understand Bungie fucked up on Halo Custom Edition/PC.
Mine lags and bugs liek hell too. Everyone I know who has it also gets that shit. From what I understand it's the game, and sadly bungie never released a patch for it.

Alright, screw Halo. What can I do to make my computer faster, lol? (Or does slowing down mean simply that it's time to format:c)

Thats cuz you have 512mb of ram, Nick. Most games post-2001 will only run half decent with at least a gig, though 512 is like lower limit.

JP - For a faster computer, you got your RAM mainly. The more RAM the faster you'll be able to run games performance wise. RAM is cheap nowindays, but depending on your motherboard, you can only support a certain max amount.
Graphics also contribute. You could have 8gigs of RAM, but with a shitty graphics card, you're computer will still lag from trying to process good graphics on shitty hardware.
Lastly, hard drive space can contribute a tiny bit, though it's not major. The bigger hard drive you have, the more space you have to save data. Which means the more free space you have. When you play games you're computer is constantly saving and deleting temporary data used to run the game (you can see how much data programs use with the task manager, control alt delete). The more space you have available that isnt used up, the more programs are to use up temporary space. Also, the more free space you have, the less time required for the computer to read over multiple programs at once.

Also, a nice processor is a must for maximum game enjoyment, though not quite as essential as lots of RAM and a good GPU. The processor *gasp* PROCESSES all of the code, graphics, sound stuff, etc. that you don't have devoted hardware for, so mainly just code and other snippets of information that sound and graphics cards can't stomach, but also dictates how quickly things like RAM (and thus your framerates and stuff) will be updated and acts as sort of an umbrella coordinator and, ahem, processor for all of your computer's underlying componenets.

Also, for gaming...
AMD is better than Intel in terms of processors.

I tried Doom 3 again. IT DOESN'T WORK ANYMORE!!! What the fuck?
It worked this summer! I thought I lost the drivers to my graphics card so I deleted them all and installed them all over again. I tried updating my drivers from 8.25 to 9.9. I can't. I get a message saying that "The installer could not detect appropriate hardware".

Should I just format :c and start over?
Defragmenting did not help. I guess it's just time for a format.

DOOM 3 WAS CONQUERED. MY GRAPHICS CARD OPERATES AT TWICE IT'S PREVIOUS POWER. YES.
I guess I didn't have to format after all... Just found out that my card is supported by drivers of version up to 9.3... when I tried installing 9.9, it didn't work.
And I fixed the problem with Doom 3 being played in a really small window whenever I doubled my card's memory...
So, to sum up: I AM HAPPY NOW.
